Sheriff Woody
W
woodyoody is Andy's favorite toy which is remarkable as he is an old-fashioned pull string doll. Pulling the string activates his voice-box . Woody exclaims one of several possible exclamations, 'Reach for the Sky', 'There's a snake in my boots', 'You're my favorite deputy', or 'Someone's poisoned the water hole!'. Woody is the most popular toy and the de facto leader of the toys from Andy's room. In Toy Story 2, Woddy discovers that he is a toy based on a character from a TV series called Woody's Round-up.

Buzz Lightyear

K
nown as Buzz for short, Buzz joins the action at the beginning of the first film when Andy receives him as a birthday present. This upsets the toys' social equilibrium as buzz_lightyearBuzz' expansive character changes the group dynamic amongst the toys. Buzz boosts many exciting features, including pop-out wings, exclamations activated by buttons (including the famous 'To infinity and beyond!'), a laser (a flashing bulb in most toy versions), a karate-chop action (absent in most toys), glow in the dark space-suit, and a rectrable helmet. In Toy Story 3, Buzz is also revealed to have different language settings when he is inadvertantly reset to Spanish. Buzz is a space ranger and member of Star Command. He is engaged in a fight of good versus evil against Zurg, who has designs to take over the galaxy. Buzz Lightyear has also been the hero of Buzz Lightyear of Star Command: The Adventure Begins (Disney-Pixar, 2000) an animated direct to video film which was subsequently followed up a TV series, Buzz Lightyear of Star Command.

Rex

Rex is a very loveable dinosaur. Although one the most powerful and impressive creatures to ever grace the earth, he is handicapped by his puny arms. He can be
rexexcitable and lives in the fear that one day Andy may receive a more intimidating dinosaur revealing his inedquacies. Rex is also the main protagonist in a moment of parody in Toy Story 2. The toys having found some wheels to explore Al's Toy Barn toy store, Rex being left behind, chases the vehicle calling after his friends. The split-second view of Hamm's vision of Rex's open jaws in the wing rear-view mirror is a direct throw back to Jurassic Park.

Mr Potato Head
This is a classic toy from Playschool. In Toy Story, Mr Potato Head is sarcastic and vocal. He is often the butt of many jo
kes willing and unwilling. This is the character the writers obviously had most fun creating, this is obvious in his actions like his holding his eyes up mr_potato_headto see over a crowd of toys, pretending pulling his own lips out to pretend to kiss his own back-side to diss Slinky Dog's defending of Woody's leadership, or even the the tortilla episode in in Toy Story 3. Locked up over night in the sand pit, all his elements get out through a hole in the side of the sand pit leaving his body behind. Mr Potato Head then rebuilds himself by sticking his eyes, arms, etc into a tortilla! The plan almost comes unhinged when a passing pigeon decides he looks like a tasty dinner! Mr Potato Head also plays strip battle-ships with Hamm shedding body parts as he takes hits!

Mrs Potato Head
At the end of Toy Story, Mr Potato Head gets his wish (he had wished for Mrs Potato Head at the begining of the film when Andy was opening his birthday presents), Andy mrs_potato_headreceives Mrs Potato head as a Christmas present. She takes a more prominent role in the two sequals. With some real laugh out load comments when helping Mr Potato Head pack for the Woody Search Party in the would-be bloopers during the end credits, she packs the angry eyes of course, but also golf clubs, a key and much more into the back of Mr Potato Head! She is caring and devout to Mr Potato Head to an almost comical level

Hamm
Is a piggy bank with a very pragmatic approach to life and does not hold back with his hammwise-cracks. His coins are held in a by cork which falls out in a comedy moment when he warns the other toys that 'Nobody can look'. Media savvy, he reveals himself to be a mad-channel surfer when the toys are looking for the Al's Toy Barn commercial on TV in Toy Sory 2. He also takes on the role of Evil Doctor Pork Chop in the opening sequence of Toy Story 3.

Slinky Dog
Slinky Dog is Woddy's faithful ally in winning over and convincing the toys in any slinkysituation. He plays chekers with Woody. His ability to strech is often tested and he proves to be very flexible and strechable, expecially when holding on to Woody out of the back the moving van at the end of Toy Story, Helping the toys jump off the roof and diving into a lift in Toy Story 2 - don't try this at home kids! Slinky is based on a toy popular from the 50's through to the 70's.
